The Lions Lair Lodge is a small but warm, cosy and comfortable Bed & Breakfast style Ski Lodge in Smiggin Holes with easy access to the ski/snowboard slopes. The Lodge was renovated in 2005 and is fully compliant with today's Fire Safety regulations.
The Lodge is regularly surrounded by snow during the season which makes a great playground for the little ones. The Lions Lair Lodge is primarily a Bunk Bed style accommodation, ideal for groups and families alike, in which all rooms have an ensuite, individually controlled heating and ample hot water. The Smiggin Holes ski lifts are only 250 metres from the Lodge as is the shuttle bus stop where you can catch the free shuttle to Perisher daily from 7.30am to 5pm.
Aside from the excitement of the snowfields another reason for choosing the Lions Lair Lodge is the hearty breakfast that is included in the nightly rate and gets you ready for the day ahead. But the best reason is the parking! Overnight parking in Perisher and Smiggin Holes is not permitted but the Lodge pays National Parks an annual fee for the luxury of on-site parking and that is also included in your nightly rate (limit of 1 car per room). Please note that the parking permit is issued for parking on the premises only and you must still purchase a National Parks Entry Pass upon entry into the Kosciuszko National Park. And those are just some of the reasons that you should stay at the Lions Lair Lodge!
The property is strictly a Non Smoking facility (inside and within the property's boundary), is unlicensed but has a communal Lounge to relax in with a TV that has satellite channels and internet channels and a Pool Table plus board games for the kids to play with whilst you make new friends with other guests.
Additionally, the Lions Lair Lodge has a Drying Room, a Waxing room (you must bring your own waxing equipment) and secure ski and snowboard storage. A communal area for tea and coffee making facilities is also available with tea, coffee, milo, biscuits and milk available. There is also an upright refrigerator/freezer to pop those small items into aswell as a microwave.
Finally - if you are driving from Sydney we suggest allowing between 5 and 6 hours to get here and if you are coming from Melbourne then it is usually around a 6 hour drive. Please note that when driving to Perisher from Jindabyne it's an easy half hour drive in good conditions but keep in mind that, unless driving a 4WD, you are legally required to carry properly fitting chains in any other type of vehicle within the National Park. Alternatively if you do not wish to drive direct to Smiggin Holes you can park a car for free at Bullocks Flat at the base of the Ski Tube to Perisher, catch the Tube and on arrival at the Perisher Ski Tube Terminal take the Shuttle to Smiggin Holes (one stop, about 5 minutes) from the Bus stop just outside the SkiTerminal.

Car Parking : Overnight parking in Smiggin Holes/Perisher is not permitted however the Lions Lair Lodge is one of few Lodges that pays a premium to allow parking at the Lodge and so parking for one vehicle is included in your nightly rate with a permit provided.
Getting There : The Lions Lair is located in Smiggin Holes 30kms west of Jindabyne, NSW. You may wish to catch the Ski-Tube that departs from Bullocks Flat on the Alpine Way and arrives in Perisher Valley (2kms from Smiggin Holes). The shuttle bus from the Perisher Ski Tube station to Smiggin Holes is free.
DRIVING TO SMIGGIN HOLES
from SYDNEY:
Smiggin holes is located approximately 500kms south of Sydney. Once you have passed through Jindabyne you then follow the Kosciuszko Road 30kms to Perisher. Smiggin holes is located on the right 2kms before Perisher.
from MELBOURNE:
Smiggin holes is located approximately 600kms North East of Melbourne. You will need to drive through Thredbo to Jindabyne on the Alpine Way, then turn left onto Kosciuszko Road and drive 30kms towards Perisher. Smiggin holes is located on the right 2kms before Perisher.
Once in Smiggin Holes turn off Kosciuszko Road into Smiggin Holes and then take the first right, Pipers Lane, to The Lions Lair.
