A charming, comfortable and cosy experience awaits at our graceful New England style property.
Explorers Lodge graciously overlooks a quiet, leafy pocket of New Norfolk, featuring four guest rooms, all with private ensuite, a self-contained apartment and expansive landscaped gardens.

The main B&B lodge guest rooms are only suitable and bookable for guests 11 years of age and older.

Our Sassafras self contained apartment is suitable for children of all ages.

Staff are not always onsite at all times of the day. Please call/text ahead to ensure staff are onsite. We may contact you to confirm an estimated arrival time. Checkin after 9pm must be requested by prior arrangement.
Car Parking : Parking always available.

- No undercover or secure parking.
- Three onsite spaces from the driveway which cannot be reserved.
- Street parking is plentiful and on a quiet street located very close to the front entrance.
Getting There : 105 Derwent Terrace New Norfolk.
Look out for the blue and yellow tourism signposts once you cross the bridge in New Norfolk.
We are within easy reach of Hobart (35min), Richmond and Coal River Region (25min), Mona (20min), Mt Field National Park (40min) and all the delights of the magnificent Derwent Valley and Central Highlands.

Private access is from the rear garden via small set of stairs.
Expansive master suite with king bed and ensuite.

Separate living area and kitchenette.
Private balcony and BBQ overlooking landscaped rear gardens.
Maximum occupancy: 2 people.

Sassafras Apartment is part of the Explorers Lodge building structure however apartment guests do not have access to the main part of the lodge and its living areas.

Kitchenette includes kettle, coffee, tea, fresh milk, fridge, Induction hotplate, microwave, mini oven, toaster, salt, pepper, olive oil, electric frypan, plates, glasswear, pots and pans, cutlery, cooking utensils and BBQ cooking kit.

Guests staying in our B&B guest rooms do not have access to a kitchen or food preparation area however plates, cutlery and a microwave are available.

Tasmanian Wine and Tasmanian Cider is available for purchase from local producers Stefano Lubiana, Derwent Estate and Plenty Cider.

Terms and Conditions

Booking Policy

You agree to our terms and conditions which includes our cancellation policy.
Guests are requested to contact us when making SAME DAY RESERVATIONS.

Deposit Policy

Standard Bookings

No deposit required

Group bookings with total tariff over $2000 or bookings that include three rooms or more

50% deposit must be paid within 14 days of booking.
The total booking balance is due 90 days prior to arrival.

Cancellation Policy

Standard - includes partial cancellations (reducing room nights)

100% of total rate for no show.
100% of total rate if cancelled within 7 days of arrival.
50% of total rate if cancelled within 14 days of arrival.
No penalty if cancelled with more than 14 days notice.
No penalty if cancelled due to Covid 19 restrictions, border closures or natural disaster regardless of notice period.

Group bookings with a total tariff over $2000 or bookings that include three rooms or more

90 days notice from check in date is required for refund of the 50% deposit.
No Refund applies to bookings cancelled within 90 days of arrival.

No Show Policy

Full rate due for booking.

Child Policy

Children must be a minimum of 11 years old to stay in the main B&B section of the lodge which includes Silver Wattle, Blackwood, Blue Gum and Banksia guest rooms.

Children of any age are permitted to stay in the Sassafras apartment.

Check-in Policy

Government approved photo id (passport or drivers license) and credit card be presented

Check in is from 2pm and check out is strictly 10am. Early checkin/late checkout requests may only be made the day prior to arrival by contacting us.
If you will be checking in after 9pm you must notify us in advance. We have a strict policy of not accepting checkins after 10pm however by prior arrangement checkin after 10pm can be confirmed for guests arriving on late flights.

Other Policy

Smoking not permitted in rooms, internal spaces, balcony's and garden.

Rollaway/extra beds are not available

Strictly no house parties

Curfew in place to minimise noise between 10pm and 7am. If you need to enter or exit the property during curfew hours this may be arranged by contacting us prior to your stay.
